EUROPCAR RENTAL

There are lots of excellent rental car companies at all airports near Salies de Bearn. We happen to have used Europcar a lot from Pau, Biarritz and Bilbao and have generally been very pleased with their service and quality of cars.

Their airport staff speak excellent English (if your French is a little rusty) and car rental is extremely good value in Europe compared with Australia.

SIXT CAR RENTAL

A popular budget car rental company which also operates out of Pau and Biarritz airports is Sixt Car rental.

It could be said that European drivers are pretty relaxed about a few bumps here and there so it might be worth considering the extra insurance to cover any little scratches or dings you may pick up along the way.

AIR FRANCE Offers twice daily flights from Paris to Pau Airport, a 45 minute drive or cab ride to Salies de Béarn.

RYANAIR flies from London's Stanstead airport to Biarritz airport, only a 45 minute drive or cab ride to Salies de Béarn.

Easy Jet offers a great range of flights from London's Gatwick airport to Biarritz, a 45 mins drive or cab ride to Salies de Béarn.

Provided they do not intend to work in France, Australian citizens do not usually need a visa to visit France for a period of less than 90 days.

However, Australian visitors to France do need a visa for stays of greater than 90 days and will need to apply for a Long Stay Visitor visa.

Citizens of the UK and other European Union countries do not usually need a visa to visit France regardless of the length of stay.

You should seek independent advice, but we can provide information on how we successfully applied for a 12 month visitor visa to France in 2012 through the French consulate in Sydney. It was a lot of paperwork but it was definitely worth it.
